Eve of Xmas 2006

Hello All!
Either you stumbled upon my website while driving along the information superhighway or you really went out in search of Dr.Phosphorus and found him (me) . All the same I extend a warm welcome to all.

Thought I would share with you a few thoughts on this eve of Christmas. Did you know that Christ was not really born on 25th December. It was a date that was adjusted by the Romans for convenience. Along the same lines as this one is another; A flying-fox is not a fox at all! In fact it is a squirrel with a flap of skin on either side of its body which helps it glide from one tree to another in the forests of its native Australia. That would be a nice example of a misnomer. Can you think of other such misnomers?

I remember a movie with Denzel Washington called Cry Freedom (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092804/). He plays the south-african leader fighting apartheid in the movie. One of his dialogues goes something like this : "You say we are black when we are more brown than black and you say you are white when you are more pink than white."

I close with this thought; Episcopaleans, Scientologists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Protestants, Roman Catholics, Jehovahs' Witness and all your other denominations out there who are all still christians embrace the spirit of this day and celebrate humanity. Jesus work on earth would be complete if you did.
